![]() SAN DIEGO, CA - The Padres, after many years of trying, were at last able to add pitcher Tim Stauffer (left) to the roster thanks to a deal that sends pitcher Brad Boxberger to the Philadelphia Phillies. "I'm ecstatic to finally get Stauffer in San Diego," manager Tim Stoops said. "We gave up someone younger to get him, but Stauff's proven. He has a track record in this league. That's valuable." 2013 was a season lost to injury for Stauffer, but he hopes to rebound in a big way as part of the Padres pitching staff. He's started and relieved during his Phillies tenure. He's expected to find a home San Diego's bullpen, for now. Boxberger, a potential future closer, was an undrafted rookie signing of the Padres two months ago. If he pitches in a game for the Phillies, he'll be making his PGL-MLB debut.
